Facebook free in Airtel, Charge on Extra Services

Airtel

Airtel has launched the world’s first USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) based Facebook access service in India. Now Airtel Subscribers will have access to Facebook and update status for free, and enjoy additional activities for Just Rs. 1 a day, view/comment/Like news feeds, post on walls, confirm friend requests and view all notifications.

USSD is a session-based communication, this requires no internet connection, browser, GPRS etc. It functions somewhat like a menu-based browser(Something you Do to Check Your Balance or Voucher Status). Airtel claims that this technology is unique to GSM, and is a built-in way to transmit data over signal channels. The new USSD solution from Airtel is based on Fonetwish which is developed by U2opia Mobile social and mobile application provider.
